I dutifully did it and I still got the error from the KAV servers. I finally gave up. AVS is still installed on that machine but I can't activate it.

So, just now AOL sends me an email saying that they are concerned because I haven't activated AVS. But this was form email sent to everyone who hasn't activated. They don't in any way tell me what to do about the activation error. I suppose I will now get this same email in all my other email addresses I used when I downloaded multiple times to get new activation codes.none of which worked.

As a test, I tried installing AVS on this XP machine (after uninstalling KAV) and I was able to activate it very easily on the first try during installation. So, the problem must be connected to something about 98SE. I've posted about this problem earlier on this board and no one was able to help. My question is in a situation like this is Kaspersky support available or is my only recourse AOL support (which takes a week to reply and then will probably just tell me again to get another activation code and do a new install again)?

I checked the time and date on the computer and they are correct. I have read posts by many 98SE users who have AVS successfully installed, activated and running so it is not that it won't work on 98SE. It runs beautifully on my computer. It uses almost no resources which is very important on FAT32 systems. I have it running and scanning and no problems at all.

The ONLY problem is that I can't activate it so I can't get current definitions. The problem is solely something to do with the activation code given me by AOL and the Kaspersky registration servers that reject the code. It is an extremely frustrating problem.

But thanks anyway for the suggestion to check the computer date and time as I hadn't thought of that and hadn't checked it in ages and that could have been it.how I wish it was something that simple!
